Betsie turned a cardboard dishwasher box into a reading fort and invited her then six-year-old, Olive, to paint on it. This oil painting represents a literal interpretation of Olive’s rainbow, sun and welcome sign. Inside the box, you can see her daughter’s sleeping bag, a flashlight and a hardbound copy of The Princess Bride, the book Betsie and her husband were reading to Olive at the time.
