Betsie's friend captured this great blue heron taking off from the river during a white water rafting trip. Betsie's mom asked if she could make the heron appear to be taking off from their pond in the painting as a 50th wedding anniversary gift to her dad. Betsie grew up swimming in that pond, alongside frogs and snakes!
