Girl Dinner (Giclée Print)

On the surface, this oil painting might look like a pink party for one, a nod to the trending "girl dinner" of discovered pantry foods pulled together for a solo meal. Betsie created it during a color theory class taught by the fabulous Zoey Frank. She used a limited palette of three colors (ultramarine blue deep, Indian yellow, alizarin crimson) + titanium white, seeking harmonious colors. The objects all involve reflections and circles, with repetitive elements taking your eye triangularly through the painting. She worked entirely from life, no photo references or even a pencil drawing first. Just paint straight onto the canvas from observation.
